Full Spectrum Leadership

Leadership
While leadership is an attitude and a set of behaviors which inspires follower-ship and is therefore a potentially distributed function open to anyone at any level, Senior Leaders have a special charge to serve all the organization’s stakeholders. They provide a mental focus for future direction (vision), energy for engaged mission management and goal achievement, and inspiration (or consternation) by virtue of their values-based behavior – leading by example.

A full spectrum culture is built on the basis of beliefs, values and behaviors that are related to the seven levels of consciousness or potential. The culture of an organization is a direct reflection of the leader’s values, beliefs and behaviors and the inherited traditions from prior leadership eras. Leaders who live the seven levels values are full spectrum leaders and create and sustain a full spectrum culture.

Transforming the current culture toward full spectrum is a process, and requires full spectrum leaders who will:

♦ Drive the process by serving as committed exemplars of the Vision, Mission, Values (VMV) Trilogy and their corresponding behaviors. The CEO or leader of the organization and his or her team must be willing and committed to their own personal transformation in order to move the culture toward full spectrum. They must “be the change they want to see” and set the example by walking their talk. “Organizations don’t transform, people do.”

♦ Ensure that the VMV Trilogy drives decision making and are integrated into all aspects of the organization’s structures, systems and procedures. This anchors the values beyond behavior into the organization’s processes, thereby creating a truly robust values-driven culture.

♦ Sponsor a values-management function that actively measures, maps and monitors the values and behavior of the people in the organization. What is measured counts, what counts becomes priority, what is priority gets done. Therefore values management ensures that the culture is constantly evolving toward full spectrum in an ever changing environment.
